There are many testimonies that Jesus is the Son of God. There are the testimonies of the water and the blood, of the Spirit, and of the Father. These testimonies make clear that the cross must remain central to all we preach. The Spirit perseveres this truth and sees to it the truth of the cross, the Gospel, is continually preached. There is no such thing as spirituality without believing Jesus is fully God and fully man. For this reason, the Nicene and Apostles Creeds need to remain a part of our worship services because they summarize well the centrality of Christ’s identity and the centrality of Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection.
