Does sin impede our relationship to God? Are material things important to God? If we are spiritually enlightened, can we ignore such mundane things as sin and morality? John says those who think sin is irrelevant are being deceptive. Their belief is not due to ignorance but is a cover up of the truth. Only those who are alienated from God are also alienated from the truth. Sin even if we deny it still exists in our lives and therefore our heartfelt response as Christians must be confession knowing we stand forgiven through the blood of the cross.
