Love for our brothers and sisters proves that eternal life is working in us. He returns to another test, the social test, the test of love. What is the connection between love for one another and our love for God? We cannot love unless it is empowered by the experience of being loved. God loving us gives us the power to love others. How do we know God loves us? He sent Jesus to die for us. God’s love is perfected among us through our expression of it. The result of expressing God’s love is greater assurance of our salvation. We are commanded to love. It is the fuel that motivates us to love because it is an act of moral obligation.
