Money is not evil, but the love of money brings much evil. Hungering for wealth can usurp a place in our heart meant only for God. Jesus warns us against a preoccupation with getting more stuff; wanting more than we need. If our treasures are only earthly, we too are only earthly and no heavenly good. Jesus says where our treasure is there our heart is also. Having our eyes only on earthly treasure distorts our spiritual vision. We fail to see spiritual things clearly. We develop spiritual cataracts. A good way to fight against greed and materialism is to be generous to others; to accumulate treasure in heaven.
