There is a contrast in Isaiah 6 between one king who dies and the everlasting King who is and is to come. His reign shall never end. In this chapter Isaiah receives his call to serve this Holy King as one of His prophets. But Isaiah’s reaction to being summoned to the Heavenly Temple is not at first one of joy but of fear. He knows he is a man of unclean lips living among a people of unclean lips. God in His grace cleanses Isaiah’s sin and sends him out to prophesy before the nation of Judah their King’s coming judgment. Yet the King will save a remnant through whom the Messiah, the King of Kings will come.
