Jesus went to a Sabbath dinner at the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees. They wished to test

Jesus, but he instead confronted them with two parables. In this second parable, a man gave a great

banquet, but his guests who originally agreed to attend now refused to go by giving terrible excuses.

Rather than canceling the banquet, the man invited “the poor and crippled and blind and lame.”

Apart from Christ, we were once spiritually poor and crippled and blind and lame. Because of Christ,

we are included in this banquet and should rejoice. There is still room for others!
