NCF Sunday Worship Livestream - February 11, 2024
Topic: “The Mystery of God”
Sermon Summary:
It is easy for Christians to think they have God figured out. We worship Him after all. We read His Word after all. God will always display His power on His own terms. He will do so when and how He wants! There are those who worship Him but their hearts are far from Him. Isaiah 29:11-12 compares a learned man to an unlearned man. The learned man is too lazy to open the prophetic scroll. The unlearned man cannot read and has no desire to learn so he can open the scroll and read it. Jesus in Matthew 15:1-9 uses Isaiah 29:13-14 to describe the Pharisees who show fear of God but only to commandments taught by men. God hardens this distaste for His truth with spiritual blindness. The Pharisees and those like them use their worship of God as a means to avoid Him. Therefore God will do wonder upon wonder for his remnant in a way that confounds their wisdom and discernment. As Jesus said in the Beatitudes (Matthew 5), it is the meek who shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord and inherit the earth, and the poor will exult in the Holy One of Israel.
