Sermon Title: “The Complexity of God” (Pastor Bob)

Summary:

Isaiah in this text oscillates back and forth from the kindness of God and the severity of God. Aslan in the Chronicles of Narnia is said not to be safe but is good. Jesus is a victorious warrior defeating the wicked and bringing redemption to His chosen people. God’s love gives life to a people who were only dry bones. We, however, like Israel, rebel, thinking we can handle life all by ourselves. We do not want too much of God in our lives. He just complicates things. We think this and live like this, until life becomes so unbearable we cry out, “Where is He?” We must put everything else on hold in our lives until we find the answer to this question. The answer comes through repentance and faith. Repentance and faith make our experience of a complex God simpler. We now see only His steadfast love through the Lamb of God who shed His blood for us.
