Sermon Title: “The Blessing in Suffering” (Jim Womer)

Sermon Text: 1 Peter 4:12-19

Summary:

Every Christian will face suffering. We often become disoriented when we suffer, but Peter tells us that we should not be surprised when we are faced with fiery trials. Instead, we should rejoice! How can God’s people rejoice in the midst of suffering? We are to rejoice because our suffering identifies us with Christ. Since our Lord suffered, so will we. When we share in his sufferings we can also rejoice in his glory! God uses these fiery trials to purify us and make us more like Christ. Suffering may not be pleasant, but God enables his people to rejoice!
