Sermon Text: 1 Kings 21:17-29

We often underestimate God’s desire for justice in the world. ‌God not only sees the world’s injustice, but also moves quickly and powerfully against it. In today’s text, God sees the injustice of Naboth’s murder at the hands of Ahab and Jezebel and quickly sends in Elijah to pronounce an extreme judgment upon them. This judgment is quick, decisive and somehow… still merciful. This is an amazing text, with much to teach us concerning God’s nature and the nuance of repentance.
