Job Title: Bookkeeper

Job Type: Part-Time (15–20 hours per week)
Location: Hybrid (Tasks involving collection, disbursement, and physical accounting must be performed on church premises, while other duties may be completed remotely)
Reports To: Pastoral Staff

About the Role:
New City Fellowship is a financially transparent and healthy church and we are actively seeking a detail-oriented and trustworthy Bookkeeper to maintain accurate financial records of all Church funds and ensure their proper distribution. In this essential role, you will play a key part in supporting the financial accountability and overall health of our Church. Working closely with the church office staff, you will manage a flexible schedule while ensuring all financial deliverables and deadlines are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management: Make suggestions for church budget and accurately record all financial transactions, and categorize expenses using QuickBooks.
  • Accounts Receivable: Record weekly tithes and offerings, track ministry receipts, and enter giving data into Subsplash.
  • Accounts Payable: Process invoices, issue payments, and manage reimbursements and approved Sharing Fund requests.
  • Banking: Conduct weekly banking activities, including deposits, transfers, and special transactions.
  • Payroll & Taxes: Process bi-weekly payroll and benefits, and manage all federal and state payroll tax liabilities and filings.
  • Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports for church leadership and complete required annual filings, including the Annual Presbytery Financial Report.
  • Compliance & Stewardship: Exercise sound financial stewardship and maintain strict confidentiality regarding all donations.

Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a working knowledge of basic accounting principles, terminology, and mathematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive financial information with integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage workloads independently while consistently meeting deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits:
Pay: Hourly rate, commensurate with experience.
Flexibility: Flexible scheduling available to accommodate the 15–20 hour work week.
Status: This is a contracted position and subject to regular negotiation.
