SERMON TEXT: 2 Corinthians 9:10-15

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

SERMON SUMMARY:

Harvesting is a lot of fun. When my family lived in Delaware, our home was surrounded by farms. There was a corn farm in our backyard. A potato farm in our front yard. A pumpkin farm to the left of us and a honey farm on the other side. There was food everywhere. However, what really stood out to me was the workers of did the farming. They worked hard all day. They came from everywhere. The farm hands were housed by the farm. Fed by the farm and even kept safe by the farm. There was a whole world to it that was amazing to watch year in and out. Likewise, Christians are also farm hands who are in the total and complete care of a loving God who is the ultimate Lord of the Harvest. Therefore, because our God is so generous, we too can become cheerful givers. Over the last 2 sermons, we have discovered the process of becoming a cheerful giver. The cheerful giver must plan and prepare. The cheerful giver is also called to sow by faith. In this third and final sermon from chapter 9, we are taught what to expect from the harvest God provides his faithful saints.
