Sermon Title: "A Faithful Father and His Faithless People"

Sermon Summary:

Our passage reminds us that God is both the Father and Creator of Judah. Judah belongs to Him. Since God is their Father, shouldn’t they be faithful to those who also belong to Him? Instead, Judah was acting faithlessly, particularly in marriage. Men of Judah were divorcing their wives, women from within the covenant community, and marrying women who worshiped other gods. Their faithlessness to their wives was ultimately faithlessness to God and revealed that their hearts were far from Him. God has given marriage a wonderful purpose, but Judah was treating this covenant as something disposable. Marriage points us to the faithful Bridegroom, Jesus Christ, who loves His bride, the church, keeps His covenant with her, and gives Himself for her. Where we are faithless, our God is faithful.
