Sermon Title: "God’s Unchanging Love"

Summary: The book of Malachi was written in the 5th century sometime after Judah returned from exile. God’s people were back in the land, but they quickly fell into their old ways of corrupt worship, spiritual apathy, unfaithful leadership, covenant breaking etc. Even the exile did not remove the problems within God’s people. The book of Malachi points us to our great need of Christ. In today’s passage God begins his lawsuit against his people by declaring his love for them but they dispute his love for them. When we think of declaring our love for someone we think of lovely words or nice gifts. God declared his love to his people through their election and through their preservation. Sometimes we may feel as though God doesn’t love us, but God loves his people with an unchanging love.
