The Faithless Priests and the Faithful Priest

Sermon Text: Malachi 2:1-9

Sermon Summary:

In Malachi, we see that God loves his people enough to confront them about their sin. In our previous passage we saw that God’s people were bringing improper sacrifices and the priests were not doing anything to stop the improper worship of God. In today’s passage, God continues his argument against the priests. God uses intense language to call out their sins of failing to follow God, to instruct his people correctly, and to minister impartially. Their sins have caused many to stumble. When shepherds fail in these ways today, they also cause much harm to God’s people. Even the best pastor today is imperfect. However, there is a perfect priest, Christ Jesus, who reconciles sinners to God.
