Meditation Verse: John 1:29

New Testament Reading: 1 John 1:5-10

Sermon Title: “Our Sin is Great, but God’s Love and Mercy are Greater!”

Sermon Text: Psalm 51

Sermon Summary:

The title of this Psalm instructs us that the occasion for this Psalm is when the prophet Nathan confronted David over his sin pertaining to Bathsheba. The sins of David in this instance are well documented in 2 Samuel 11 and Nathan’s confrontation is found in 2 Samuel 12. David sinned greatly, but once confronted by Nathan he appealed to God’s great love and mercy, confessed his sin, and asked God to cleanse him. We sin too. When we are confronted with our sin, we need to do as David did. We can have confidence through Christ that we have forgiveness of sins and a restored relationship with God when we repent.
