NCF Sunday Worship
We just finished our study of the Ten Commandments. These commandments reveal to us how sinful we are and our need for the Savior. Yet, like the devil and Adam and Eve our pride keeps getting in the way of us entering the kingdom of God. We need to admit that Jesus is the only One who can and has fulfilled all of God’s commanding by being God and He alone can fulfill them in those who give their lives to Him. The way into Jesus’ kingdom is by becoming poor in spirit so we might become rich in God’s spiritual blessings. We do not become poor in spirit by looking around at other people comparing our “righteousness” to theirs. C.S. Lewis has said, “Whenever we find that our religious life is making us feel that we are good—above all, that we are better than someone else—I think we may be sure that we are being acted on, not by God, but by the devil. The real test of being in the presence of God is that you either forget about yourself altogether or see yourself as a small, dirty object. It is better to forget about yourself altogether.”
